The Vermentino Bianco of the Vernero estate is the single-variety expression of the family's most important white grape — a wine that allows the Vermentino of the Candia hills to speak entirely for itself, without the structural support and aromatic complexity that the multi-variety Gocce di Pietra blend provides. In this purity, the Candia hills Vermentino reveals a character that is distinctly its own: mineral, fresh, and shaped by one hundred and fifty years of adaptation to a very specific piece of Tuscan-Ligurian hillside.
Produced through light pressing, long fermentation in native yeasts, and six months of ageing in oak barrels — the estate's consistent production approach applied to the single variety — the Vermentino Bianco becomes the foundation for the estate's most technically demanding wine: the Brut Metodo Classico that the estate produces through three years of refermentation in bottle from this same base wine.
As a still white, the Vermentino Bianco occupies an elegant and versatile position — a wine of mineral freshness and varietal definition that pairs naturally with fish dishes in all preparations, white meats, salami, semi-aged cheeses, radicchio trevigiano, and as an aperitif. Its character reflects the sandstone and clay terroir of the Candia hills — mineral, stone-fresh, with the aromatic delicacy that Vermentino develops best in cool, well-ventilated, terraced hillside conditions.
