GEWÜRZTRAMINER

The Gewürztraminer Trentino DOC of Trentino Ambassador is the estate's most emphatically aromatic white wine — produced from 100% Gewürztraminer hand-harvested in September and October from mainly porphyry soil at 14% alcohol, and expressing the variety's ancestral Alto Adige-Trentino character with full aromatic conviction. This is the variety that originated in nearby Tramin/Termeno — the same variety as the Müssen Künstler Sein's Verena, here expressing itself in the Trentino DOC context of porphyry soils and the ambassador estate's organic mountain viticulture.

Porphyry is the distinctive volcanic rock of the Trentino landscape — a magmatic rock of particular mineral richness whose specific contribution to the wines grown above it is among the most debated and most celebrated aspects of Trentino viticulture. Gewürztraminer grown on porphyry soil in the Trentino conditions — the mountain altitude, the cool nights, the intense sun of the Adige valley — develops a particular aromatic intensity and a structural freshness that distinguishes it from Gewürztraminer grown on richer, heavier soils in warmer conditions.

Golden straw yellow in colour, the wine presents with intense floral and fruity notes of great complexity and elegance — the Gewürztraminer aromatic profile in its most complete and most sophisticated expression. The taste is very balanced — not particularly sweet but dry as representative of the production area, soft and very persistent. Ideal with appetisers, spicy first courses, goose liver, fish pâté, crustaceans, asparagus, and spicy pasta: the full range of preparations that benefit from a wine of this aromatic generosity and structural balance.
