Frasanè is the wine through which the Nesci estate makes its most profoundly Mediterranean statement — a blend of indigenous Calabrian varieties, including Nero di Calabria and Nocera, that produces something the estate's catalogue describes without false modesty as having spectacular organoleptic qualities. It is the wine that places the Nesci estate in a different category from merely regional producers: a wine of such territorial specificity and aromatic force that it could only have come from this particular combination of soil, climate, grape, and winemaking knowledge.

The Nocera grape — ancient, attested in Greek sources, the same variety that gave birth to the Mamertine wine beloved by Julius Caesar — meets here on the Palizzi hills of Calabria a grape of equal historical depth, the Nero di Calabria, in a blend that honours the agricultural heritage of the entire region. Both varieties are grown biodynamically in the Nesci estate's integrated ecosystem, surrounded by bergamot and olive, shaped by the constant Ionian breeze, and given the individual attention that a family winery of nine hectares can provide with genuine thoroughness.

The resulting wine is, as the estate describes it, profoundly Mediterranean — a quality that goes beyond geography into something more essential: the mineral freshness of a coastal climate, the warmth of southern sun, the aromatic complexity of a soil alive with biological richness, and the vinous depth of varieties that have been growing in this specific corner of Calabria since the ancient world. The minerality is relevant and the freshness in taste is unique — qualities that distinguish Frasanè from the heavier, more extracted style that Calabrian reds sometimes pursue.

This is a wine for serious occasions and serious food: the richest preparations of southern Italian cuisine, the most substantial cheeses, the most considered moments of the table. It is also a wine that stands alone as a meditation wine — complex enough to be its own conversation.
