The Colli Trevigiani IGT Spumante Rosé Extra Brut is the most creative and most unexpected wine in the Masot portfolio — a sparkling rosé produced from Manzoni and Moscato, a variety combination of genuine originality that produces a wine of salmon-coloured bubbles of fine and persistent perlage. It is the wine through which the De Ros brothers demonstrate that biodynamic sparkling wine production can encompass not only the expected Glera-based Prosecco expressions but also an entirely different variety palette producing something of distinct and genuine character.
The Manzoni grape — more precisely Manzoni Bianco, also known as Incrocio Manzoni 6.0.13 — is a cross between Riesling and Pinot Bianco developed by the oenologist Luigi Manzoni at the Enological School of Conegliano in the 1930s. It has a particular affinity for sparkling wine production, contributing aromatic complexity and elegant acidity. The Moscato brings its characteristic aromatic generosity — sweet floral notes and delicate fruit — into the blend, creating a rosé of unusual aromatic sophistication.
The wine presents with salmon-coloured bubbles of fine and persistent perlage — a visual distinctiveness that immediately separates it from standard rosé sparkling productions. On the nose: sweet confetti, delicious woodland strawberries, and dog rose emerge, developing into the mouth where fresh and savoury qualities predominate, with clear pomegranate and grapefruit adding a citrus dimension that gives the wine lift and drinkability.
The biodynamic philosophy of the De Ros brothers — Cerletti School academic excellence combined with Grandfather Arturo's territorial knowledge — applies to this creative wine with the same rigour as to the Prosecco range. Five grams per litre of residual sugar calibrates the wine's sweetness to a point of elegant restraint rather than overt fruit.
