Lacrima is the estate's expression of one of the Marche's most individual and most locally specific red varieties — the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, a grape whose name (lacrima means tear in Italian) refers to the peculiar tendency of the berry to weep its juice through the skin before harvest, and whose intensely perfumed character makes it one of the most immediately recognisable and most deeply regional wines of central Italy.
The Lacrima di Morro d'Alba grape has been cultivated in the area around the town of Morro d'Alba in the Marche for centuries — a variety so specific to its territory that it barely exists in cultivation elsewhere, and whose aromatic profile — wild rose, light spice, and freshly picked red berries — is one of the most distinctive in the Italian indigenous variety canon. At this family estate, where organic farming preserves the biological richness of the clay-limestone soil, the Lacrima develops its characteristic perfumed intensity with particular clarity.
The production process involves artisanal vinification at controlled temperature and an extended maceration of about thirty days — a considerable period of skin contact that extracts the maximum aromatic and phenolic potential from a grape that, despite its perfumed lightness, has genuine structural depth to offer. Ageing in steel and subsequent rest in bottle refine the balance before release.
In the glass, the wine presents as bright ruby red with an enveloping olfactory profile that expresses the full intensity of the Lacrima variety: wild rose, light spice, and freshly picked red berries emerge in a bouquet of genuine floral exuberance. The palate is dry, soft, and deeply fresh, with a delicately lingering finish. Served between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, it pairs perfectly with pasta al ragù, white meats, or medium-aged cheeses.
