Alberelli di Primitivo is the second Primitivo expression of the L'Astore estate — its name referencing the traditional alberello vine training system of Puglia, in which the vine is trained low and bush-like without external support, a system of great antiquity that concentrates the vine's energy into a small number of high-quality grape clusters. Where Jema is the cru expression of maximum selection and extended barrel ageing, Alberelli di Primitivo speaks with the directness and generosity of the grape in a more immediate, more broadly inviting form.

The wine presents as ruby red with impressive texture — an initial visual quality that prepares the taster for the richness to come. The nose is rich, elegant, and fresh simultaneously — a balance that is genuinely difficult to achieve in a Primitivo of this concentration, and that reflects the organic farming approach of the L'Astore estate and the specific character of the coastal Salento terroir. Notes of black cherry, plum, American tobacco, bay leaf, liquorice, eucalyptus, myrtle, and tamarind arrive in a delicately spiced blanket of aromatic complexity that is among the most distinctive in the portfolio.

The aromatic profile of Alberelli di Primitivo is one of its most remarkable qualities — the breadth of reference, from dark fruit through herbs and spice to the specific aromatic signature of the Salento macchia vegetation, speaks of a wine that has absorbed its landscape completely. The tamarind note in particular is unusual and distinctive, setting this wine apart from more conventionally profiled Primitivo expressions.

On the palate, the wine delivers an enchantment of balance and velvet harmony — the estate's description, and an accurate one. The rich fruit of the nose translates into a generous, structured palate of genuine persistence, rounded off by refreshing balsamic puffs on the finish that give the wine lift and prevent the concentration from becoming heavy.
