Villa Zappi is the Trebbiano Romagnolo white of the Tenuta Casali estate — a wine that takes its name from a historic villa on the estate's Mercato Saraceno property and that expresses one of Romagna's most deeply embedded indigenous white varieties in a style calibrated for genuine pleasure and broad versatility. The Trebbiano Romagnolo is distinct from the more neutral Trebbiano Toscano — a variety of greater aromatic character and more individual personality that has been cultivated in Romagna for generations.

The production protocol follows a careful, multi-stage approach: cold pressing with soft handling to preserve the delicate aromatics, short prefermentation maceration to extract a measure of aromatic complexity and texture from the skin contact, and then cold fermentation to preserve what that maceration has released. Ageing follows for six months sur lie with several batonnage — periodic stirring of the fine lees that builds texture and autolytic complexity over the extended contact period.

The Trebbiano Romagnolo in the Casali estate's specific conditions — the old fluvial terrace with gravel sublayers, the significant day-night temperature variation of the Romagna Apennine foothills, the photovoltaic-equipped family cellar's precise temperature control — develops a character of genuine freshness and mineral precision that the variety achieves best in cool, well-ventilated conditions at altitude.

Villa Zappi is the estate's most historically resonant white wine name — connecting the production to a specific place within the estate's historic territory and reminding the drinker that behind the wine is not just a variety and a technique but a specific and continuous relationship between a family and a piece of Romagna land that grandfather Mario began in 1940.
