Quartosole is the Cabernet Sauvignon of the Tenuta Casali estate — the wine that demonstrates how the international variety that has travelled the world more successfully than any other red grape expresses itself on the old fluvial terrace soils of Mercato Saraceno, shaped by the estate's day-night temperature variation and the Casali family's three generations of accumulated knowledge about their specific agricultural territory.

Romagna's relationship with Cabernet Sauvignon has been less celebrated than its Sangiovese tradition, but the variety has adapted to the region's conditions with genuine success — finding in the mineral fluvial terrace soils and the temperature variation of the Apennine foothills conditions that produce a Cabernet of genuine character and genuine territorial identity rather than the generic international expression that the variety delivers in less specific contexts.

The production follows the same protocol as the Vigna Palazzina Sangiovese — traditional fermentation with post-fermentation macerations, followed by thirteen months of ageing in new and used French oak barrels. This extended oak treatment is well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon's naturally firm tannin structure and high aromatic concentration, integrating the wood's contribution into the variety's inherent character rather than imposing it over the fruit.

Quartosole is the wine through which the Casali family demonstrates the breadth of their estate's expressive range — beyond the indigenous Sangiovese and Albana tradition that defines Romagna's winemaking identity, into the international variety that has proven itself equally capable of genuine quality expression in this specific Romagna terroir. Vinified and aged in the photovoltaic-equipped family cellar.
