respect for the land as the only path to great wine
Respect for the land is the only way to obtain a good wine. The Terzuoli family's winery reflects this conviction in seeking the right combination between innovation and respect for the oenological tradition of Montalcino — with Sangiovese Grosso as the absolute protagonist and slow alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts for more than twenty days on the skins as the foundation of their method.
After the wine has been drawn, it continues its journey in steel tanks for malolactic fermentation before entering what the estate describes as the smell of tradition: large barrels of thirty-five and fifty hectolitres of Slavonian oak — a choice aimed at preserving the integrity of the fruit and giving the wines refinement and elegance without the intrusion of heavy wood influence.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG is the full expression of quality and elegance of Sangiovese Grosso — a traditional Brunello with intense ruby red colour and varietal and spicy aromas, excellent freshness and fine intensity. In the mouth it is enveloping, silky, with sensations of softness that enhance its breadth. Rated 94 points by James Suckling.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA DOCG is born from the careful manual selection of the best grapes, harvested only in the best years — a wine of unique characteristics of power, elegance, amplitude, and austerity since the vineyard. Aromas of ripe red fruit and spices, a powerful sip with notes of raspberry, wild blackberry, and liquorice, minerality that caresses tannins smoothed by long ageing in large barrels. A meditation wine. Rated 94 points by James Suckling.
SASSO BRUNO is the estate's third Brunello — from the best Sangiovese Grosso grapes cultivated with care in total respect for nature and traditions, manually harvested with long fermentation and slow rest in large barrels. Awarded 96 points by Wines Critic, 94 by Falstaff, 93 by Vinous, 92 by Wine Enthusiast, and 91 by James Suckling. Intense ruby red with garnet reflections; perfume intense, persistent, fine, floral, fruity, and spicy; dry, warm, soft, fresh, tannic, savoury, full-bodied, balanced, intense, very persistent, fine.
DI LUNA BRUNELLO (the 2015 vintage) represents the estate's finest historical achievement. ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC is the estate's most accessible red — intense ruby red with explosive aromas highlighting ripe red fruits and fresh roses, full-bodied with soft silky tannins, balanced and lively with a long persistent finish. Available through UniqueWines.
