On volcanic and limestone terraces in the Agno Valley, protected by the Piccole Dolomiti, Masari produces nine wines from both indigenous and international varieties — the Durella Metodo Classico Leon (42 months), Riesling-Durella Agnobianco, Pinot Noir Costa Nera, the eponymous Cabernet-Merlot Masari, Merlot Montepulgo, Garganega, Valpolicella, Amarone, and Ripasso. Volcanic soils. Lavic character. Nine wines. Available through UniqueWines.
Request a quoteThe Agno Valley is a high hill environment with intact lands protected to the north by the Piccole Dolomiti mountain range. The soils here are geologically unique: volcanic hills give minerality and great expressiveness to wines, while limestone soils provide richness and complexity. The vineyards are perfectly integrated into an intact ecosystem among the woods — original lavic wines from Durella, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinot Noir grown on terraces supported by dense dry stone walls, testaments to an ancient agricultural tradition of great determination and patience.
The dry stone walls are of black basalt in the volcanic area and white stone in the limestone area — enriching an intense green landscape in which one finds oneself immersed. A fresh, well-ventilated climate and excellent temperature variations during the summer create ideal conditions in the Agno Valley for producing wines rich in personality and elegance.
LEON is the estate's Durella Metodo Classico — elegant and decisive. Produced from an ancient Vicenza grape, it elegantly expresses mineral and fragrant aromas. Aged for forty-two months in bottle on its own yeasts, the Durella grape is fully expressed in its minerality and longevity — one of the Veneto's most serious sparkling wines.
AGNOBIANCO is the estate's Riesling and Durella blend — expressing floral and citrus notes combined with fascinating aromas of aromatic herbs. Mineral, fragrant, and engaging, from volcanic soils. The Durella's freshness and savouriness pleasantly surprise on the palate.
COSTA NERA is the estate's 100% Pinot Noir — bright ruby red, elegant with notes of berries among which cassis stands out. Elegant, soft, and juicy in the mouth.
MASARI — the eponymous wine — is a careful selection of Cabernet and Merlot from clayey-limestone soils: the excellence of the Agno Valley. A broad and complex nose ranging from fresh hints of small ripe red fruits and white peach to elegant aromas of spices and aromatic herbs.
MM MONTEPULGO is an intense and elegant Merlot — a very careful selection carried out only in large vintages with rich and balanced ripening. Intense, deep garnet red with great intensity at nose and on palate; a balance of spices and small fruits, rich in silky tannins.
GARGANEGA is a 100% Garganega white that can store five to six years; VALPOLICELLA, AMARONE, and RIPASSO complete the portfolio as the estate's Verona DOC expressions. Available through UniqueWines.
