Gianluigi, Franco, and Olga Addimanda farm their vineyards in Taurasi at 1,300 feet above sea level, on volcanic deposits and limestone, and handle everything from vineyard to cellar personally. Their range spans Irpinia's full indigenous palette: the rare Roviello Bianco Aciniell', two expressions of Aglianico di Taurasi, and two Negramaro wines of increasing ambition. Each bottle, in their own words, encapsulates their cohabitation with nature, their resistance to climate change, the joy of harvest, and respect for the Earth. Family. Taurasi. Available through UniqueWines.
For several generations, Fratelli Addimanda has tended its vineyards in Taurasi — in the heart of the gentle and fertile Irpinia district, at 1,300 feet above sea level, on soils of marls and volcanic deposits combined with limestone. Today, Gianluigi, Franco, and Olga have embraced the challenge of selling their wines while handling everything from the vineyards to the cellar, personally. Each bottle encapsulates the history of the Irpinia terroir through generations, and the family's resilience in cultivating and producing the Taurasi district's top-quality products.
The estate's philosophy is expressed with unusual directness: their wine represents them. A glass encapsulates their cohabitation with nature, their resistance to climate change, the joy of the grape harvest, the sweat of labour in the fields, and respect for the Earth. In this way, their generation has continued their grandparents' journey — keeping pace with the times while remaining faithful to family traditions.
The estate is committed to protecting the planet and preserving environmental biodiversity, having signed both the Regional Integrated Pest Management Plans and the Farm Fertilisation Advisory Plan. The Aglianico grapes grown here — on volcanic deposits and limestone at 1,300 feet — develop wines of firm tannins and a characteristic smokiness from the volcanic soil. Permanent grassing encourages living organisms that create a vital ecosystem, developing the particular micro- and macro-organisms that become the precursors of the flavours and aromas present first in the grapes and then in the wines.
ACINIELL' is the estate's indigenous 100% Roviello Bianco — an autochthonous white of great rarity. Harvested when fully ripe, transported quickly to the cellar, carefully selected, then destemmed, crushed, and subject to temperature-controlled fermentation before racking into stainless steel where it ages for approximately ten months on fine lees. The result is straw yellow with a light golden hue, with an intense and persistent nose of clear mineral and fruity hints. Dry on the palate yet with great intensity and excellent persistence, warm and savoury with good acid consistency.
CAMPI TAURASINI is the estate's younger Aglianico di Taurasi — 100% Aglianico harvested at full phenological ripeness, with careful selection of bunches in the vineyard and extended maceration of skins for about twenty-five days. Malolactic transformation follows, along with ageing in French oak barriques and tonneaux for eighteen to twenty-four months depending on the vintage. Ruby red with excellent complexity and finesse, intense and multifaceted notes of red berry fruit and dried flowers with hints of tobacco tertiary aromas.
The estate's TAURASI DOCG presents the same Aglianico di Taurasi at its most ambitious level — ruby red with complex red fruits and spicy notes, soft with great concentration and well-ripened tannins, making the palate pleasant with an elegant and persistent finish. Twelve to eighteen months in French oak barriques and tonneaux depending on the vintage.
Finally, ELOQUENTIA and LE BRACI are the estate's Negramaro expressions — the former an intense ruby red with notes of sweet suede giving way to spices and cherries, elegant and genuine; the latter from Negramaro top grapes subjected to an overmaturation or induced wilting that gives a complex structure, planned for ageing in small oak barrels. A wine described as regal and sumptuous. Fratelli Addimanda is available through UniqueWines.
