Since 1800 in the Cartizze area of Valdobbiadene, Colline Guizzette has produced five Prosecco DOCG expressions from one of Italy's most historically significant sparkling wine territories: the Cartizze DOCG, Extra Dry, Brut Millesimato, the Col Fondo N'Ombra de Sol, and the Extra Brut Nature. Cartizze. Family. Since 1800. Available through UniqueWines.
The origins of Colline Guizzette can be traced back to 1800 with the first cultivation in Valdobbiadene in the Cartizze area — the estates of the noble Onigo, Pola, and Battaia families. Since then, and right up to today with the current generation, the winery has been run by a long line of family members united by the same passion for winemaking and the same vision for growth and innovation.
The estate specialises in the production of Cartizze and Prosecco DOCG, and visitors may sample the wines and enjoy a warm family welcome in the beautiful tasting room with its stunning views across the Prosecco hills of the Venetian region. This is a winery that has made hospitality as much a part of its identity as production.
VALDOBBIADENE PROSECCO SUPERIORE CARTIZZE DOCG is the estate's most prestigious expression — from the celebrated Cartizze subzone, nose of intense apple, apricot, pear, and rose with great elegance; straw yellow with dense mousse and fine perlage; aromatic, soft and fresh, fruity and full-flavoured on the palate.
PROSECCO DOC EXTRA DRY displays an immediately evident sweetness from residual sugars — sweet tasting, pleasant, and a treat for any palate. Fresh and elegant character, soft and dry in equal measures, bright straw colour, characterised by fruity aroma that fades to floral.
PROSECCO DOC BRUT MILLESIMATO is a vintage wine of great balance between dry mouthfeel and gentle fragrance — strictly a Millesimato, exhibiting the taste and aromas typical of that specific year's harvest.
N'OMBRA DE SOL is the estate's Prosecco Col Fondo — a testimony to the long viticultural and oenological tradition of the area, undergoing a second fermentation in bottle during springtime. Categorised as semi-sparkling, made from grapes grown exclusively within the Valdobbiadene DOCG area. Natural yeasts remaining in the bottle act as natural preservative; zero residual sugar makes it unique.
VALDOBBIADENE EXTRA BRUT NATURE DOCG exhibits a characterful, harmonious structure with distinctive mineral notes given by the high clay and calcareous component of the soil. Available through UniqueWines.
