On basalt, white Lessinia rock, and flint in the upper Val Squaranto, Angolo di Paradiso produces four fully organic Valpolicella wines: the Superiore, the Ripasso, the Rosato, and the Amarone — in one of Italy's most challenging appellations, with the patience and commitment that the greatest red wines demand. Flint soils. Fully organic. Amarone. Available through UniqueWines.
Request a quoteThe vineyards of Angolo di Paradiso are located in the upper Val Squaranto — in the hills north of Verona — part of the Valpolicella appellation not far from the Regional Natural Park of Lessinia. The soils of this particular territory are geologically unique: from the ground, basalt rocks, Lessinia white rocks, and flint emerge, determining an intense minerality of earth that distinguishes the wines of this estate from all others in the Valpolicella denomination.
The terroir is rich in biodiversity. Vines, olive trees, and cherry trees coexist alongside large areas of meadows and forests — a complete natural ecosystem of which the vineyards are one element rather than the totality. The flint has become the symbol of the estate: for them, it means continuity — a link between man and territory that is renewed and lasts for millennia.
All vineyards are certified fully organic. Grapes are harvested strictly by hand from the last ten days of September to the end of October, and fermentation lasts about two weeks in temperature-controlled steel vats. The estate's commitment to organic production in one of Italy's most structurally demanding appellations — Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone — represents a significant achievement in both agricultural and viticultural terms.
The VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE is made on hilly terrain, from grapes typical of the area. Fine and delicate, it matches white meats and cheese perfectly. The RIPASSO SUPERIORE is produced on hilly land, re-fermented on the pomace of dried Amarone grapes — the Ripasso technique that gives Valpolicella greater complexity and structure. After fermentation, the Ripasso rests for about twelve months in oak barrels and then six months in steel.
The ROSATO VENETO is the estate's rosé — fine, fresh, and suited to a wide range of food pairings. The AMARONE DOCG is the estate's summit achievement: world-famous as a wine category, but produced here with a particular character arising from the fully organic maintenance of the vineyards. Grapes are harvested, placed in small five-kilogram crates, and dried for about three months — losing more than 50% of their initial weight through dehydration aimed not solely at sugar concentration but at developing aromatic and polyphenolic potential. Fermentation in steel at controlled temperature for two to three weeks, followed by eighteen months in oak barrels. Available through UniqueWines.
