Aljano

Aljano makes five organic wines in Emilia — from the Spergola (a pre-phylloxera indigenous grape of extraordinary purity) in still and sparkling form, to the Cabernet Sauvignon Rosso d'Aljano, the Cabernet-Merlot Rio delle Viole, and the Settefilari Lambrusco from all seven indigenous Emilian Lambrusco varieties. Organic. Spergola. Seven-variety Lambrusco. Available through UniqueWines.

Aljano makes fine wines with the greatest respect for the environment, continuously investing in innovative growing and wine-making techniques so as to keep pace with the times while remaining true to the tradition that only an organic winery can guarantee. Their production focuses exclusively on natural products and techniques, free from any synthetic chemicals — in the vineyard and in the winery alike, using the very lowest quantities of sulphites.

The estate occupies a unique position in the Emilia wine landscape by embracing both the international varieties that have found genuine expression in the region and the indigenous varieties that carry the historical identity of Emilian winemaking — most notably the Spergola and the seven indigenous Lambrusco varieties of Emilia.

BREZZA DI LUNA is the estate's Spergola still white — from vines of one of the purest and most uncompromised tastes coming from original roots never attacked by phylloxera. A fragrant white wine of such character that, in the estate's own words, your cellar will not be the same again after you own it.

FIOR D'ALJANO is the Spergola in its sparkling expression — produced following the Charmat method, genuine and tasty, made for the enjoyment of parties and celebrations.

ROSSO D'ALJANO is the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon — from almost twenty-year-old vines, a ruby red with purple reflections, intense and complex on the nose yet perfectly balanced on the palate, with spicy and bush notes gently harmonised by ageing in barrel.

RIO DELLE VIOLE is the estate's blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — the ideal wine for the estate's hunting season, where guests can hunt from an abundant reserve of boar and deer. A great balance combined with sapidity, made special by ageing in French oak barrels.

SETTEFILARI is Aljano's Lambrusco — a great dry and sparkling red Lambrusco made from all seven (sette) types of indigenous Emilian vines, offering a complexity and authenticity that single-variety Lambrusco cannot match. This is Emilia at its most genuinely expressive. Available through UniqueWines.
